    Default Landrover Freelander Guru's?

    Having a ***** of a time with my 04 Freelander. Getting error Codes P0301, P0303 & P0305 (misfire) and a corresponding Bank 1 O2 Sensor lean code.
It's intermittant, plugs are new (less than 1k miles).

    Totally stumped at this point.

I've gone through the typical steps on all British cars, pulled/cleaned electrical connectors and added a dab of dielectric grease....no change.

    Anyone got any insight?

    Sell it? Crush it?

what else have you done? Tried swapping coils to a opposite cylinder? See if the misfire moves?
Not entirely certain but I thought cylinders 1,3 and 5 are on the same bank. Ground for those coils good?

My sister had an issue on her car (different model) where it was getting a misfire. Ended up being a fuel injector. In the end it actually just ended up being the injector seal. They replaced them and it solved the problem.

Has it gone through the fuel pump recall?

Have you checked for a vacuum leak? What level scan tool do you have or is it a code puller only?

    Checked for vacuum leaks.
    Fuel pump recall was performed.
Using an Actron Scanner, not sure of the model but it's a great tool.

I've learned one thing that I'd like to share with you all...
    The Brit's couldn't wire a toaster properly.

The reason I ask is that for a 2004 most likely if you are checking for vacuum leak with either break clean or propane you are not going to find a smaller vacuum leak with out a scan tool that with graph an O2 sensor. The idle control will react fast enough to cover any rev from sucking in combustibles. The O2 Sensor will peg on rich when you find the vacuum leak though. Smoke is still the best way. Since you have a lean code and misfires all on the same bank my bet is a small vacuum leak on that side.

That was exactly the problem with my sisters car. The fuel injector seal was bad, but not on the low PSI side. It was on the vacuum side, which threw the mixture out of whack, and created a code for a misfire. It was a bit baffling at first. A lean code and misfire is basically either a vacuum leak or possibly a low PSI in the fuel rail.

Yup. I have had vehicles have vacuum leaks around injector o-rings and run like **** because of it. And it doesn't take a lot. I left it on the smoke machine for 15 min before I even saw a little wisp of smoke. Fixed that, ran like a champ.

ETA: Wouldn't be horrible idea to check rain pressure, since that is easy.

I read through a bit of that. Don't even waste fire on it!

Set it at the curb, keys in the ignition, and hope someone takes your problem away...

It's our least favorite model to work on. Really cannot wait for them to completely disappear.

    Well I'm a fookin' genius!!
1/2 Bottle of Seafoam got it purring like a kitten...a psychotic kitten, but a kitten none the less.

As soon as I'm able to afford another car this one is outta here.
