    Default BAB\Prius Hunter Build

Hoping to be getting started building up the Bronco (aka the Bad @ss Bronco and the Prius Hunter). Got a lead on a perfectly good, if not cherry tailgate for it. It is being held for me and be putting it on sometime this Winter. Window is included and all switches work on it. Going to be ordering panels to fix the rust on the quarter panels. This is going to be an extremely slow thread due to money that needs to go towards the two 2 grandsons I'm raising.

Right on, Jerry. Gotta start somewhere and if the project looks better, you'll be more motivated to work on it. Can't wait to see more! Are the grandsons mechanically inclined? Looks like they are properly mentored!

Quarter panels are now on hold. Having some, I hope, engine issues. Idle is loping when started and the engine is warm. Also dies when put in park after driving. Going to be swapping out the fuel filter, and doing plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. I'm also open to any other suggestions, but I'm certainly not going to be chasing down the problem by throwing money at every little thing. That gets way too expensive. I know too many people that do that on a normal basis and then wonder why they never have money and their car is crap.

You have the EFI 302 or carbed 351? Sounds like a carb with vacuum leak.

That blows my theory out the door. Could still be a vacuum leak.

Found no vacuum leaks, replaced the fuel filter, and put in some higher octane fuel. Seems to be clearing up.

Well damn. Blew a wheel brake cylinder during the cold snap. Really suck since I did the a back in 2010. Oh well, I guess I can have fun doing them again.

Sorry to hear. But on a bright side, since you have done them before, they should go quicker and easier this time round.

Good luck with them, I hope they go easy for you!

I just need a nice warm place to do the work. Still not 100% sure it is the wheel cylinder. Could be a brake line. Have to tear into it and see.

Still haven't found a problem with be brakes. Bled them and everything seems normal. Still looking for where the air is coming from.

I did replace the smog pump last week and waiting for the next thing to break. Just takes time.

Check the old rubber lines. If they look deteriorated at all replace them. Also check every fitting with a wrench to be sure they are tight. Look for rusty places on the steel lines, usually a wet spot in the rust if it's leaking. It's pretty unusual for a caliper to leak but can happen. Or just park it & buy my 95. It's going on Craigslist pretty soon.

Where ever it is, I do know it is to the rear brakes. That I know for sure. Will be putting it up on the lift Saturday.

Also, before I even think about getting another Bronco, I have to get the wife a car so I can have my pickup back.

Been having an issue of running a little warm. Thought it was just the gauge since they all seem to go wacky every noe and then. Today while meeting up with some guys for a run up Yankee Hill, she boiled over. Started it up to get the coolant moving and we all saw the upper radiator hose collapse. Babied it home, drove 10+ miles to get a new one and got it installed. No more running a little warm. Sucks that I missed running trail though.

Glad you found the problem, that's what we do in the spring to spend the summer wheeling!

Parts are starting to roll in. Finally have the rotors and pads I ordered a while back. Let the work begin. I know, why not go to the auto parts store for the brakes. Rock Auto had the ones I wanted at a good price. Why pay more if I don't have to, right?

Why pay more? You don't always have to. Print the page with the price then see if the parts store will match. I've done this before (buying a KTM) and if you need the part now, it may benefit you.
