I totally forgot about that Mike. Thanks.
Wanted to tape off trailer and lay down paint but white was still tacky. Turned on some heat and let it set and dry today. Pulled out the canopy and did some light sanding on it and tried to rattle can it black. Not liking the results so will get some different paint and touch it up. At least for now the wood will be protected from the elements a bit better.

After heating the garage up gave it a few hours and checked again at 3. Not tacky anymore so we waited 2 more hours and started taping off. Got a little of the black layed down but have to finish taping off driver side to finish the other side. Started to prime the top but called it a night and forgot until paint was put up. Top rim and bottom is all that is left except very end of coupler.

Awesome!! I saw this guy's trailer on CL, it's pretty cool but not as vintage or as well done as yours. http://denver.craigslist.org/for/4740515973.html

self etching paint is some amazing stuff! with the condition of the trailer when you got it, self etching would have been perfect for you!
no prep work involved blow out all dust paint and bam done.

Thanks. Probably not doing the canvas. Until things are complete the canopy will just allow us to throw a tarp over it and trailer be protected. Going to be building a locking shell for the top and mounting a tent to it most likely. Got the first layer of black on. Touching up today and hopefully will get it in daylight for some good pics.

Got paper pealed away today just before the game started. I learned a few lessons on this to carry over. Some spots sprayed through. Some were spots I didn't notice and some from the paper warping after absorbing moisture in the air the night of rain. Learned I need one tape line for my line and a different one for taping paper down. Never again will I tape off and leave it. We will now tape off some off the black and touch up the white, probably not until spring though. Leaning toward doing a clear coat now. It still looks good.

Really nice work Cliff, the one thing I learned about spraying clear is once you think your done apply more more clear use it all that way you can wet sand it without the fear of going past the clear.
That trailer is going to look great behing the XJ

Still a little cold to get into painting but got started on the wiring. Routed it through the underside but still have to insulate it, think I will just use nylon hose. Got the hole cut for the passenger side. New drill is tough to run slow and mangled an arbor bit. Had to utilize toggle bolts to hold in new LED lights, will be looking for something better. Got the bracket for passenger side cut, bent and 2 of the holes in it for mounting lights, it will match the mounting on the driver side. Cut some chain links up and got the permanent hoops for safety chains welded onto the coupler but will have to get pics of that later.

Some heater hose or the like is great for wires.....keeps the crap out is flexible for years....not cheep but makes the wiring less pron to issues.

    Looking good!
