Just went up Bald Mountain yesterday July 13th. Four-wheeling was great!! Good trail to flex the suspension and test both your driving and car's capabilities. We drove all the way through to Killpecker Road and back down to Red Feather. I don't think I would take rig larger than what we were in (full size 89 GMC Jimmy). Very narrow in spots with some partially downed trees you have to drive under. Do not attempt this trail with a stock SUV unless you want to stack rocks and winch most of the way. With 35" tires and a mild lift, we still had some spots that were difficult to navigate through. If you like playing on the rocks while being protected by trees on both sides and not on an exposed cliff, this is a good trail to take.
We went through Pole Hill Road near Estes Park on Friday July 11th. Got stuck in a rain storm which made for some fun four-wheeling. There is a partial closure down in the meadow (clearly marked by a wooden fence blocking the trail). Near the top of the meadow, there is another trail that loops around to get you to the other side so you can take the main loop around the south side and back to the top of the trail. (All legal and clearly marked) Great scenic views of Estes. Pretty mild trail except for a couple of spots.
Stay safe and happy wheeling!!!
