    Default Quality Exhaust Sleeve?

I'm breaking down my Jeep to do the RMS and the oil pan can't come out without moving the exhaust pipe. There are two connectors where it meets the manifold on the side of the engine, you can see them in the first pic. Those bolts got their first PB Blaster bath today, as did the O2 sensor, they should come right out. After that there isn't another coupler until post-cat, and you can see in the pics how bad access is. I can drop the pan, disconnect the hanger and transfercase mount and work it out, but the long run of pipe in the second pic is screaming "sawzall" to me.

so if I cut that pipe I can sleeve it with sheet metal and clamps and have a shop weld it, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a clamp on sleeve that is good enough to leave. It would be an advantage in the future if I have to do this again. I'm searching but I keep finding parts store temp stuff or ebay/UK. Any advice?

My guess would be that all you have to do is drop the front of the exhaust to the ground, and leave the rear completely on. That should give enough clearance. No reason to drop the entire exhaust system out.

Also known as a band clamp, available through your local Advance Auto???

I have seen the 2.5" and bigger clamps on the shelf, in Arvada. I'm thinking your exhaust is not that big.

I think you can buy couplers for various size exhaust pipes: cut, slip in each end, clamp & done.

Thanks everyone! I'm not sure how much it will droop with just the front disconnected based on this http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/re...an-tj-1620577/ but I guess I'll find out. I PBd the coupler at the muffler too, but the hanger under the trans skid looks to be part of the transfer case mount so that has to move to if I go that route. I'll probably just cut it if the front doesn't drop enough.

Not sure if yours is the same as mine. On mine the hanger at transfer case slides back and out of mount to drop down. Won't get much droop if you are still connected there. When we did my rear main we had to drop exhaust all the way down.
