Any one have some insight on trail conditions for Switzerland trail and Pennsylvania gulch? Buddy of mine is planing a group run tomorrow. Was wondering if anyone knew how the trail is right now.

If I had to guess you'll probably be fine. Maybe some snow in shady areas/North facing stuff but nothing deep or serious. I wouldn't bother with tire chains or anything. It'll likely be plenty muddy and a little slick but both trails aren't rated very difficult at all. If anything the slicker conditions may bring a pleasant challenge. At this point in the season you should really only be worried about trails that ascend above treeline. I know @ around 7,500' farther south towards the Palmer divide has received trace amounts of snow here and there in the last few weeks, but nothing that's accumulating with how warm our days have been. It's a great time to get out IMHO. Just be responsible about trail use obviously. Avoid the mud bogs if you can do so whilst staying on the trail, it helps keep them open for future generations of wheelers and OHVers
Enjoy - Happy Trails!
Slightly off the original topic, did someone post a report about Switzerland Trail recently or am I crazy? Maybe it was another trail but I thought I read someone saying it was free of snow... I may be getting trails mixed up after reading all of it at once.
Probably thinking of this thread:
