    Default Toys, Toys, Toys !!

    Got a new toy !!!!
Now I want to mount it on the side of the back box..
Iv heard closer to the batt is better..
Do I mount the compressor in the front and run the air lines back to the tanks
Or, do I just run the wires to the back and mount the compressor to the box ??

I would run the compressor under the hood if at all possible. It is more protected from theft and the elements. Closer to the power source, meaning shorter wiring and cheaper(air line is cheaper than thick gauge wire). And being that it would be outside of the passenger compartment, it would be a lot less noisy.

    What Aaron said...

Essentially, DC items, and this is a large draw item, benefit from shorter wiring (even more than "larger" wiring).

can always mount it behind the passenger front fender below where the air filter box is, it will be protected, lots of air flow for cooling and short wire runs. put a quick disconnect up by the air box for the front and run one along the frame to handle the rear.

You can mount the compressor anywhere you want as long as you have the correct wire size for the amperage the compressor pulls.

this chart is based upon the maximum amperage for the gauge wire:
