The vertical tilted layers of rock are kind of interesting - dont see that a lot in Colo. I don't know the Sangre's well enough to know a trail that goes that high - Medano and Hayden don't really break tree line I don't think. This one is good...I've spent quite a bit of time searching google locations based on the geology....

I’d say Whale Hill near Bonanza but I don’t recall mtns that rugged or any lakes.
