    Default The Gulches (Hackett/Longwater/Metberry)

Hey everyone, I'm posting this feeler to gauge interest in running these three trails on Saturday the 24th. Try to meet at the intersection of Co Rd 51 (Cedar Mt Rd) and Co Rd 3 (Wildhorn Rd) at 9:30 am? There's an area next to this intersection where trailers can unload if needed and drive about 5 miles up the dirt road to the Hackett Gulch trailhead. I for one would need to trailer to that point, and Robert B added in a previous thread it looked good for trailers at that location.

According to Predator 4WD website the Hackett and Longwater Gulches are still open up until the Teller/Park County line, but Metberry is open all the way down to the river. Between the three there should be plenty to do.

I'm not looking to lead these trails necessarily as I have no experience on them, just looking to meet up with some peeps that wanna go out and get some trail time this upcoming weekend. Also, if trying all three in one day is a bit much I'm cool with doing 2 outta 3 or something.

Sorry for the kinda short notice.

Last time I was on Metberry it was not open to the creek. There was a cable across trail about a quarter mile from creek. There is a bypass that has been made that I found myself on and did not notice cable until way back out.

all three will go to the river ( I have been ) and I would be very interested in these.......... 3 is probably too much as I still don't think longwater and Hackett cross at the bottom as of a few months ago........if they do have a path in there now by the river then all 3 is probably doable..... and yes it should be 51 and 3 for the trailer but I will look over my map again tomorrow to double check just in case and if I do go then I can lead all 3 as I grew up on these trails lol

Kind of new to this forum thing and I'm not sure if I'm allow to post this but Predator 4wd in the Springs seems to be a primary advocate for these trails and has a recent status on discussions with the forest service here: http://predator4wd.com/halomegu.html. Funny - I just saw this same link in the first post...
