    Default Another Issue !!!

So when i take off down the road alls fine then the jeep just bogs down like its dying...i press the skinny pedal and its "chunky" when i drive on down the road...ive since did some research with little help. Ive checked the "so called" air mass flow sensor, there isnt one on my 2000 xj...ive tried to locate the fuel filter which ive been told by a dealership that its on the passenger side rear wheel well next to the gas tank. Not there ( searched under everywhere ) !! I was told there is 2 fuel filters and the other one is located inside the fuel tank. Also been told it is not serviceable and would have to replace the fuel pump as well...I dont mind doing that and would have no choice but to, but would rather see if there is something else causing this before i go that route. Thoughts????????

Do you have pretty low idle? Sounds like almost exactly the same problem I have been having with my MJ for a while. Not sure what the solution is I always thought it had to do with the transmission.

What speed, rpm, engine temp, out side temp. morning afternoon or night or all the time.

Fuel filter in most likly in the tank and if im correct its j ust a sock before the pump..
When it bogs down is it shaking or just slowly shuting down?
When the problem happends and you let off the gas will it go back to normal.

I might have to try the fuel pressure gage but with a longer hose..Does any one know where the pressure is supposed to be ? Ive searched and cant find crap !! This just started happening about 2 weeks ago so you can kind of gage the weather. It was in the morning driving to work and around 5-6 pm going home..kinda gives you an idea of the temperature at those times..No shaking when bogging down, just seems like a minion pinches the fuel line...then when i apply more pressure to the gas pedal , thats when it gets chunky.

Are you sure it isn't throwing codes? I would expect it to. Make sure the check engine light is on before you actually turn the key. All the dash lights should be on, and it should be one of them. If it comes on, and then goes off when the engine starts, then it didn't trigger yet, but could still have a stored code. May be a good idea to check for a code anyways. Without a code, it will take a fair amount of tinkering.

sounds like fuel filter / pump to me, especially filter with no codes. I'd bet they're still the OEM ones from 2000.

I had the exact same problem...but wasn't on my Jeep. It was my 97 Dodge 2500 V10. No codes. Sometimes it ran fine. Then it wouldn't idle. It would try to die. Acceleration was clunky. I replaced several things to try and fix it. MAF sensor. O2 Sensors. It ended up being the Idle Air Control valve. When I pulled it, it didn't really look very corroded. But after I replaced it. The problem never came back.

I had the fuel pump go bad a couple of years later. The symptoms were 100% different. It would run fine. But often wouldn't start after it had sat for a short time. I could work around it by smacking the fuel tank. That trick finally no longer worked and I replaced the pump.

I'd have to disagree with the fuel filter. If it was the fuel filter it would be at all times jot onky o nvc the way to work or from work. Not sayn I'm right just disagreeing. So basically it happendes when its warmed up correct ? And happend whilie its warmed up. Correct me if I'm wrong
