Default Yankee Hill 6-2-13

    We had a good time running around the Central City area today. We went in through Central City and out Fall River road in the end. Not everybody left at same time so some are likely not home yet. Here is the route we took.
    https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=...42ab00dce41413

    Couple of loops, backtracks and lost service missing patches but enough to get the jist of the day.

    We ran across a group from Crawlerado, I think. WestyLiberty was running with them, his Liberty really looks nice in person.

    Looked like it was fun. Sorry I missed it, but I have to repair my power steering leak before I take the old girl out again.

    So I was told to stop putting porno music in my videos so this video has a custom mix of long skinny pedal.

    I had a great time today, we did a lot more than Yankee Hill. GlacierPaul knows all the good spots up there and we hit a bunch of them. We all got stuck a little, some of us more than others, but no breakage. Really fun day, thanks everyone for coming out!!

    Here's a video from the day (the music is Toad the Wet Sproket covering KISS, kind of the opposite of porn music):

    What a total blast yesterday was!! I never get tired of my area, and I enjoy showing folks around my backyard. Just enough snow bashing to be fun! Cannot wait until the entire system is open up here! I did not take very many pics, sorry. After making sure everyone got to Fall River Rd. and on their way, Aidan and I went back up to the top of Yankee to the loop of campsites to have a snack, and then run more stuff lower on the N.East side of Yankee. My neighbor Carl met me back up at the campsites, where I was winching thru a drift to gain access the second to last pic is Carl coming thru there. The last pic is of 709.1 heading back up toward Yankee Hill, just past the intersection of Miners Gulch (175.3c) and 709.1. Both ways of 709.1 are still snowed in good. That was where we called it a day and headed back home via Yankee Hill. 9 hours of wheelin total Glad you all had a good time, look forward to more!!

    Still having issues with uploads getting cut off, here is the full length video (only like 50 seconds more) but it does show Rick making it up one of the deep parts of the drift. And some idiot getting stuck too [video=youtube;

    skip to 10 minutes to save watching same video twice, sorry

    Hey guys,

    This agrees with what we saw from the north. Mammoth Gulch Road, right before the intersection with Elk Park Rd. (that drops into Apex). The last drift was an easy 5' high. All were the full width of the road. We went back around and up Gamble Gulch. Much fun snow-bashing with Dave Fortin.

    I had Dave Fortin up from the Springs, and my best-est buddy Ben was in from Minneapolis. Dave Fortin is no joke in his trusty Wrangler. I met him via Robert and Gene. He's their neighbor across the street. Totally helped out with muscle for the... recently "finished" 3/4-ton axle swap!
