Default Where to learn to weld

I am thinking of taking some welding class for fun over the summer, they will have to be night classes...

Has anyone done classes like this? and where? and how helpful where they?

General air offers classes, they are only a few hours long...think it is $50 a class. Long drive for you, they are off 6th ave & I 25 in Denver. They offer a free claaass with the purchase of a welder

I think the Westminster campus of Front Range Community College offers welding classes. Check the website.

I took a class at AIMS Community College in Greeley years ago. Did Oxy/Acetylene and Mig. Don't remember what it cost but it was worth it.

Warren Tech is not far, don't know if they do welding classes though. I thought the Mines would have this for you?

The welding class here is based more on theory, and focuses on teaching metallurgists why welds fail, how to prevent welds from failing, how to improve welds, how to analyze welds, and what is happening on the mircoscopic level while metal is being welded. It’s not really designed to teach how to weld, according to the metallurgist I was talking to…
I think those classes and the club workshop will work for now, I just need somewhere to start really.
