    Happy Thanksgiving to all !!

Family's a bit sick so I won't be visiting. Unknown if I'll turn the key and go for a ride or stay home and be productive.

Happy T-giving Jim, and the rest of the FR4x4 membership. Lots of jeep working going on around here, but paid job work starts tomorrow on T-giving (after 3 days of professional organizational conference and training last week in Colo that is not paid, just partial expenses covered). I'll also be working Fri and Sat as well. Given I work in a travel and tourism industry I have typically worked all major holidays for many many years and I am long since good with it. The biggest issue is I am not quite finished with the 58 rear axle rebuild and I am running out of time!

Reading some old trip reports, this guy took a stock TJ on 31s with a rear limited slip and skid plates through Wheeler Lake, Holy Cross, Iron Chest and Chinaman Gulch and has the pics to prove it. I've taken my LJ with 33s and truetracs through Chinaman and I'm impressed, he must be a very good driver. Guess I'll have to give Holy Cross a go this year...

Impressive he gave it a try though I think he winched quite a bit. In one of the Holy Cross pics you can see the winch line pulled.
Good looking TJ. Looks exactly how mine did before I started hacking at it.

I see one specific camera - a camera that has a tile of "road surface" with a cardboard sign, in the dirt to the side of the road, to inform camera maintenance - the camera's not looking at the road surface.

Humorous and productive - a twofer!

First big snow has folks getting all out of sorts - I did 4 recoveries this week, filmed the two big ones. Three were civvies on snowy roads, just the one on a trail. Some folks here probably got that page for that on offroadportal.org

Sizing tire chains is much less straightforward than I had hoped.

I've found that most floatation-sized chains are actually meant for over-the-road semi tires, ie a 37x12.5R17 chain won't fit a mud terrain of that size.
If you call https://tirechain.com/ they can put together kits that will fit.
If you need extensions or want to put together your own chains, https://www.ebay.com/usr/jrepp94 is the man to contact.

For anyone thinking of buying chains - if you can wait until early Jan I might have a free set for you.

A client gave me a set that might be 4x4 sized. I have measured them and came close to posting the photos before I left town - but alas the photos are at home and I am not.

They are in good to very good condition and FREE.

Chain set only - no rubber tighteners or cam-lock L tool - though those items should be readily purchaseable for low cost.

In related news - as Tire Chain was mentioned - I believe I purchased my chain sets from TireChain.com and I'd buy from them again.

No cam-lock tool or rubber tighteners. Jason / JGRubicon has first dibs...
