Default Gas Can mount ideas for a TJ / LJ?

I bought a 5 gallon gas can for Moab but I'm really not sure I trust it. The new spouts are functionally crazy, and I'm not sure they make a good seal either. Additionally it's not vented, which is really odd to me, I thought that was only for bombs. I got the Jiggler (thanks Gary!) which looks great, so transfering it to the Jeep is easy, my concern is carrying the can itself. My only place to put it is in the back of the Jeep, which is traditionally frowned on. I don't have any kind of rack or any way to store it outside the vehicle, and I'm scared of it leaking inside while bouncing around, soaking my carpet, catching fire, killing us and everyone around us for miles. Does anyone know of a good way to carry gas in a TJ or LJ? I'm thinking I might be better off just topping off at the Needles Outpost on the way there if I can't figure out a good way to carry it, I think I'll be fine through Elephant Hill and Beef Basin with a full tank. My other option is to fill it in Moab and then transfer it right before Elephant Hill... which makes less sense than just getting a few gallons at the Needles Outpost. Any ideas? thanks!!

Any way you can lash it to your spare tire using ratcheting tie downs?

I am bringing mine inside the disco empty. If salt creek is closed and we have to skip beef basin then I will not fill it. If we decide we need to I am bringing a ratchet strap to attach it to the roof rack. I am also considering the overlook, if we take that side trip on top of beef basin then we may need the extra fuel. If you need to you can strap it to my roof rack until you need it.

Gary- can't attach it to my spare, I'm actually picking up a "new" spare on Monday (currently have a 33x9.50, getting a 33x12.50) and have to space out the OEM carrier for it, I don't think it'll be durable with any more stress than the larger tire. I'm still considering selling the Jeep and getting a Tacoma so I don't want to invest in a better setup until I've decided.

Thanks, Chris, I know you've done that run before. It's about 45 miles through Beef Basin from elephant Hill, and I'e been reading a lot of tri[ reports, including traildamage.com where they have 1/2 tank left when they get to Bobby's Hole through Beef Basin.

Thank you Brad, maybe I'll bring the can and take you up on that.

Buy a Tacoma you won't be sorry.
I owned a 2007 and it was awesome ran 33"
tires with a 3" lift and it went everywhere.
I just sold my 2011 jk unlimited after it spent most of its time in the
    shop.
Just bought a 2012 taco and just took it up Saxon stock!
Yeah surprised the hell outta me too. Plenty of power in
the v6 way better then the jeep.
Just my two cents but I think tacos are amazing!!
Good luck on the Moab trip.

Oh and if you buy a Tacoma ill show you the rack I'm building
out of aluminum to hold my sparetire, hi lift , shovel, axe , tool box,
and my ski rack in the winter. It should turn
    out awesome. Again good luck.

thanks, Sam, I remember how well your stock Tacoma did on Barbour fork. I really like the composite beds too. IDK, I may wait until next year and see if I can manage to sell my DD and get a Tacoma to replace it.
