Thumbs up Adopt-a-Trail Cleanup #2 Report

A great day for wheeling! Beautiful weather. We all met as the Forest Service office in Idaho Springs, then broke up into groups. My group running Barbour Fork had Rob, Kaleb his wife and child riding with Gary, Jim D., and myself. Thanks to everyone there, the trail and campsite are all clean!

Yep, good weather, good group of folks and clean trails.

Didn't take many photos, as I was taking up the rear today. I think Kaleb got a bunch, though.

I didn't take any pics on this run. We cleaned up plenty of trash .
My first time on this trail and I was a bit surprized. Although it's not tough it has enough stuff to make it well worth doing. There are some places that would be challenging for stock vehicles.

Thanks to all who came out for this event, its great to keep our trails clean. I had a great day, and got a little carnage, hooked my fender on a root and pulled it back, breaking the mounting clips and creasing the steel a bit. Seems like a good excuse to get the Nemesis fenders and rocker guards now. Kaleb took a ton of photos experimenting with different angles and such while hanging outside my jeep. Some very interesting shots for sure. I got a few photos

I was with the Devils Canyon group. Beautiful day; beautiful aspen. We picked up thousands of rifle shells, and old couch frame, a sheet of plywood, plus the misc other cans and bottles etc.. I only took a few pics.

Got lots of shots, posted some of them up here:

    https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...5088056&type=3

    Here's a few though

Unfortunately the 3 was still in the shop, so there was nobody to be recovered

At the end of the day i saw some guy swerving toward Max on the road screaming something about his jeep needing more flex... not sure what that was about

Had a great day despite not having my truck, it was fun being a passenger for a change!

We hit a couple areas we skipped over in the spring, and found unreal amounts of shotgun shells... really came out of there with a ton of trash, pretty sad really.

Yeah, me either. It's a nice warning feature but not so nice when you have to get on to fix it!

I started with the Devil's Canyon "west" group with Aaron (& fam) and Tom. There was a small trail Tom checked out and I said I'd roll down it as he and Aaron went down another set - all likely dead ends within CB range. Path less traveled, specifically with some nice Aspens tossed in - icing on the cake. I picked up a muffler and other misc items on that trek.

While the others hit their dead end and returned, passing by my cut-off track I went out to see where they had been (what's around that next corner often tugs at me). Heading down a long, steep (17deg) hill I came across two hikers (Paul and ?Kaitlin?) who were going to hike back up the hill and out to the trailhead (where their cars were). I offered a ride up the hill and they gladly accepted, even in the back seat of the bumpy jeep (back seat's the worst spot).

At the end of the day I went with Carl and Chris back to Barbor Fork's obstacle for some wheel stand photos. My jeep just doesn't get the stellar angle Chris's rig does (didn't hit the sweet spot or it's just a tad more flexible).

All in all - a great day to be out with good scenery and company.

Oh, when I was heading out from Barbor Fork, there was a set of four target practicing with pistols alongside the trail. I said I was there for trail cleanup duty and asked if they were picking up their shells. They said they were and I said a hearty "thank you". It certainly did seem there were doing it right - good to have them about.

Someone on the cleanup mentioned they'd picked up 4 stock jeep rims for $100 somewhere near 44th and Ward road. If they could PM me with more specific info(company name or exact address) I'd appreciate it. I'd like to pick up a set but cannot find the location as there are numerous tire and wheel dealers in that area. As I live in Longmont I really don't want to drive down for a wild goose chase. Thanks.

Jim last photo above shows really nice flex to me.
