Default A home for Soft Cloud...

Here is a topic I've never seen, or heard discussed: Is there any law in Colorado that prohibits the scattering of ashes?

Soft Cloud has been cooped up in that urn for a few years. Although she lives in my memories, my book shelf is not her destination. I'll be looking for a spot my wife can visit, a spot that reflects her beauty.

    Thanks!

    Nope.

    Sounds like a great idea.

I looked into this a bit because my mother wanted her ashes scattered on top of Pikes Peak. I found the official stance was officials turn a blind eye and leave people alone.

I scattered the ashes for both my mom and dad where they wished. Never asked anyone and didn't (and don't) care what laws or regulations someone not connected to my family and our family business wanted to try to impose.

We breath stuff daily that is more dangerous to our health...And, like I said, that stuff is your business and not someone elses.

I've always told my family I want to be scattered at Old Faithful so I can spout off on a regular basis.

Knowing my daughter.... she just might attempt it!

My in-laws want to be scattered together on Sanibel Island. They will get their wish.

I haven't heard that name in a long time. Sanibel and Captiva were where I have spent a lot of time. When I was a kid we used to ride the ferry over there before they built the bridge. I have been there one time since the bridge was up. I liked the ferry better....

I had to look up Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge just to see if that is still there. Cool place:

Therein lies the problem, I got so good at tending to my own business, that I no longer have reason to sit through an open docket. I'm as exciting as milk-toast (without the cinnamon), and I'd like to keep it that way.

    Thanks for the input, Jeff!

I plan to be scattered from an airplane over the town I grew up in. I am not going to be cremated, just scattered. I've had my last dog sitting in my dining room for a couple of years now, just can't find the right spot for her. I'm thinking of a campsite at White Ranch where she had a lot of good times, hopefully it will never be developed, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. It's a tough one.

I like that! I am hoping to simply feed some hungry animals somewhere. I don't think enough of the town I grew up in in Florida to scatter or drop anything on it except maybe a ton or two of cow dung...

Bwahahahaha! I think there just might be a law about that.

Paul, that scene has been in my mind since she got here.

We scattered my friend's brother's ashes on a beautiful remote rock climb that he and I were working on. There was a really cool and exposed belay about 450' feet up and we had a nice little goodbye ceremony. We later did an nice 700-800' route up on Devil's Head (east face) in Jackson Creek and named it for his brother's dance troupe.

That is too funny Paul!! Pete, Erin and I joke about just taking each other up the mountain and leaving either for the critters. Mike, one of the greatest movies of all time!! Tom, agreed!

Mike I know several people that have scattered someones ashes all over the mountains and did not have any problems(legally). You can always spread them over Clear Lake above Georgetown, "D" could make that trip since it is all paved to the lake and it is a beautiful area too.

I was told the Forest Service has rules prohibiting the disposal of human remains in a National Forest, but they realize that spreading ashes is impossible to prove without very expensive procedures, and they really don't care as long as it isn't made into a big deal.

It is a don't ask don't tell matter. Remains are purified when cremated and are no threat to the environment. The F.S. will remove memorial markers if they find them.
