    Default Death of a Ford

Well Im posting this because I am sad to say that my fathers Ford F-250 "Craptor" has died. Its a 2004 F250 with the 6.8l Triton V10 and I can officially say it has to be one of the most reliable american made truck ever.
It has 339,710 miles of which were extremely hard driving. This truck has been through a lot and never once broke down until this last friday.
Here is the only pic I have of it.

It died when we were turning a corner. Not sure exactly what happened but it blew a valve or something of that sort because it was "knocking" and idling rough and had no power. Other than regular maintenance we have not done anything mechanically to it. Were taking it to the dealer to see what the problem but if it is anything more than a couple grand we will give it back to my fathers company and get another work truck. It was a great truck and we will see what happens. Definitely the amount of reliability that this truck had would make someone buy another ford.

Ford trucks run for ever. My dad has a 77 and it's been run hard and still goes strong. Hopefully it's not to big and can go back to work. RIP

That is a TON of miles on a gas engine without having to tear into it. Sounds like it paid for itself over the years.

Glad to hear it worked well for ya! Always a bummer when a rig you love dies.

A new motor can certainly be dropped in it , you seen the price of a new Super Duty?

Yeah the truck has been through a lot. Including a guardrail and a black bear. Sad to see it die but it has paid for itself for sure. Hopefully it will still be able to keep on chugging along.

Good to see it made it that long, I had a 67 F250 that was an old farm truck that the speedometer quite at 177k and who knows how many miles was put on it after that. My nephew finally killed a couple years ago. Definitely cheaper to put a new engine in it than buy another new truck.

Well tomarrow my father is going to the ford dealer to spend some serious time. Since it is his work truck his company will be picking up part of the tab on a new truck. So instead of going to get a new motor we will be opting for a new truck. Just the basic ford f250 with basic options looks like what we will be getting since the f150's we priced up are only a 1000 bucks more. If the salesman can sell us on a 150 then thats what we will go for. Either way I will post up a picture of the new truck when we get it.
