Nice!! Here are some Elk the boy and I saw on Sunday atv-ing, this is adjacent to Columbine Campground...
When I lived in the foothills, there was an elk migration route that ran along the NE side of the property. You would wake up one morning and see this long line of elk passing by about 40' from the house, then wander up the side, hop over the fence and continue on their journey. Sometimes they would camp out in the back yard. You would go out to the proch and they would all look at you like, "What are YOU doing in OUR space?". Deer would also camp there and wander between the two houses on the property, standing on the sidewalk that connected the two houses. One day I got ready to go to work, opened the door, and there was a bull elk standing on the the walkway directly in front of the door. Hard to say who was more surprised as we were eye to eye briefly!
I love that kind of stuff!
Another time in the South Platte area, I had gone down the night before to camp by myself and climbing buddies were going to show up the next morning. I just had my bivi sack, so had thrown down my pad and was just sleeping under the stars. I woke up the next morning to the feeling that things were a bit strange. Rather than jump up, I cracked my eyes open to find that I was directly under a large elk that was eating grass. It was standing right over me and I had a perfect view of the underbelly of an elk. I looked around and and there was a whole herd of elk chowing down on the grass on the little ridge top I was camped on. I simply stayed put and watched them for about 45 minutes as they slowly munched their way to greener pastures. I have to say it was one of the more unique waking up experiences I have had.....
Critters are pretty cool...
Thanks for the picture! Nice to have a job that sticks you in areas like this!

I do agree with you that they are neat to work around. Only thing is where I work I end up having to clean up after them and repair all of the turf that they mess up every day.
