Default Trail Gear Vs Longfield Wiper Seals

I received my Front axle rebuild kit today(finally got caught up in a shipping accident and arrived a week late)from marlin crawler , and because i am going to be tearing down the front axle 100% of the way. I was thinking about upgrading to either the longfield lifetime wiper seals or going with the trail gear wiper seal set up. Both sets replace the felt rings with one new seal, and are comparable in price. However the LFs are made out of umhw, and the TGs are a polyethylene. Does any one have any experience with either of these brands as far as the upgraded seals go?
    Thanks,
    Chris

My friend Danny ran the TG's and had good luck with them! I take that back, he ran the rock ring felt protectors. He had good luck with those!

I used the Longfield wiper seals, just went ahead and got them along with the 30 spline shafts. They've only seen about 1000 miles and one wheeling trip. One thing I will say is that they are a PITA to install because they are so stiff. Other than that they seem to be working fine.

I wish i was upgrading shafts :( However with the 77 and ranger fixed, that will bring me up to 4 trailable 4x4s to use, so then i can finally get around to the real builds, and still have something to drive everyday! I think i am going to try the TG ones, just because they come with the Rockrings and are 6$ cheaper. And from the few things i have found they seem to be pretty decent, and if not i can always replace them with the marlins when i go to upgrade shafts and change diff gears!

Will do, normally i hate being the guinea pig for this stuff, but i figured for the $ and future plans i might as well try it all out. I will keep updated on ease of install, quality and all the good stuff. I am slowly cleaning out my build threads trying to get them just down to business again, because most of them have gone far of course. Look for this in the FJ60 Revamp Thread soon to come haha. I hope the mods(and everyone else for that matter) dont mind im cleaning my threads and making them more organized with better sources and info.

I have had the Longfield ones since they came out with them and they are doing just fine. The TG one will probably work just fine too, but won't be quite as good. Tp is almost better than the felt stuff.

PITA to install. Replace the 6mm bolts on the back of the knuckles with some studs and save yourself some grief. If you get the rock rings and also get the 'creeper gussets, you will have to grind a little room on the inside part of the shock mount where it is closest to the wheel for clearance. The rock rings are worth the xtra $$, but are pretty thick.

I did just the wiper seals and not the rock rings. I also did the creeper gussets and I had to grind them a bit so the seals would clear the top gusset at full lock.

I thought that I mentioned that that you would have to do that. If I didn't, I sure meant to, and apologize for not doing so. That is one of the things no one seems to mention in the instructions....

I have the TG wipers and rock rings. No complaints so far. Easy to put on once you read the instructions.

So far, it took them 3 days to process my order, even though the money was instant transfer to them. I emailed complained, they said sorry, have a free t shirt and 2 day shipping on us. Kinda makes up for the wait time, but not really. However at least they did something about it, and tried to make it right.
