Bill, are you talking about Moody Hill or Crystal Mountain? I don't have lockers, 33s (on the 40) or calm nerves.

Should be good for everything with the exception of the Quarry itself, Rob, with either rig. Lockers are nice for the Quarry exit, but the rest of the trail is fine, Moody or Crystal. The Quarry is an optional obstacle.

Ran Moody Hill a few years back in the Bronco on 31's. Everything except the Quarry, of course. Was a fun trail, but I personally wouldn't do it in the snow. But i'm a big wimp! LOL

Few pics to give ya'll an idea of what the trails like. You know pics never do the trail justice!

    Have fun!

Here is the link to the current weather conditions. Saturday looks to be in the high 40s. No weather advisories.

    http://www.findlocalweather.com/pinp...ent509530.html

    And for Ft Collins:

    http://www.wunderground.com/US/CO/Fort_Collins.html

I couldn't find snow depth on any site I looked at. My guess is as good as Chris': Sloppy, muddy, wet and snow on the north sides....ahhhh, but sunny, too, if you can believe the weather people...

    Default Area weather

I went up to the Y of the Rockies Tues aft and arrived back Thurs aft - up on dry roads before the snowfall and back on dry roads after it. About 12-14" up at Estes Park. I heard Fort Collins received about 8". I measured 6" on my north brick wall now (Thurs 6:30p). Tree limbs down all over town (killing power for many). It might be wise, if anyone has a tree saw to bring it along. I'll toss in a basic crosscut hand saw. I hear Denver area has 30K people w/o power - ugh - fortunately I have power.

Here's a photo from the cabin's deck from Wed AM:

Jim do you know how to get to the trailhead going up 27 from Loveland? Or anybody else?
I'm pretty darn sure I'm going,

    Here - found this:

From Masonville: Head north on County Road 27 (Stove Prairie Road) approximately 11 miles to the fork for Buckhorn Road. Turn left and proceed approximately 1.5 miles to the Moody Hill (513) trail head on the left side of the road

Stay on 27 all the way to Masonville, which you go through. A few miles past Masonville, look for Buckhorn Road, marked 44H (small sign). Coming in from the south and going north, this will be a left turn. About a mile and a half after you turn onto Buckhorn, there is a parking area and trailhead for Moody/Crystal, so this isn't hard to see. There are usually a mess of rigs (it is a multi use trail) parked in the turn off.

Trailhead directions are from Ft Collins on traildamage. If you have any other questions, simply MapQuest from Loveland to Masonville and you will be really close. Here is a link to the Masonville map that shows where Buckhorn Road (also noted as Colo 27 between Masonville and where 27 turns into Stove Prairie at the 44H turn )is in relation to Masonville. Simply follow 27 north of Masonville and you will find 44H:

This looks like a fun trail. I might come, but my family already pointed out that we've done a trail every single weekend for the past month. So, I'd be all alone.

It's also kind of far away for me to drive to, only to find out there's too much snow to have fun on the hard obstacles. I did have a dream that I bought a fuel efficient car last night, I haven't had one of those in a while... but it was just a dream!

We're probably going to bring Nick with us (he got new tires yesterday) so we'll probably do Moody and bow out before Crystal.

The only hard part on Crystal is the Quarry. There are a lot of other obstacles on Crystal that make it worthwhile although almost all of them are optional. You shouldn't bow out before doing Crystal. Heck, leave Nick by the side of the trail with a couple of Twizzlers.... Crystal is more fun than Moody, I think.

    Whoopdedoos on Crystal:

Probably on Crystal rather than Moody Hill, but this is representative of the majority of the optional obstacles:

Again, not on Moody Hill, but the actual Quarry obstacle itself :

Yes. It's my back yard (and I like driving around to sight see).

I'll be meeting with the group at the K-mart parking lot.

Well, we are in! I am taking the day off from work (gotta work Sunday...) and LaDawn doesn't have anything going on.

We will be meeting Chris and the Gang (wasn't there a Motown group by that name?....)at their house before 8AM and following them up.

    See you in the AM!
