Lucky you. I take pictures, label all the wires, label all the vacuum lines, use cardboard templates with the part drawn on it with the bolts/nuts stuffed into the right holes....and I don't usuually have parts left over...BUT I have no memory...

Almost done. Ran out of gas at 6:20
Not bad considering I accomplished the following:
-r&r timing and balance shaft belt
-replaced water pump (reason she came apart)
    -replaced crank seal
    -replaced balance shaft seals
-replaced the power steering pump bracket
-added power steering pump back to vehicle

    All for the first time.

Tomorrow finish up some small items and she is back on the road!

"Balance shaft" is a dirty word to me, but I learned it from Mistubishi.

Good news! It is back together!

Bad news. My engine sounds like this:

I have triple checked my timing and it is dead on.
From what I can tell I may have lost some oil to the lifters.
No sign of why this is happening. I have called my coworker
at Porsche and am awaiting his call back.

Fortunately it was not. Turns out after I installed the main crank oil seal, I put the timing gear for the crank on backwards. In doing so the oil pump, which is driven by a torque specific toothed sleeve behind the crank bolt, did not have enough tension and backed off thus there was good oil pressure but not enough oil making it to the head. Fixed it last night after work and TADAA!! no noise. It is a huge relief to get my daily driver back on the road so I can focus on some much needed upgrades on the Rover and my Pop Up camper.
