Back in July we made a trip to Nebraska to see family. My cousin had a Rotty she needed homed for an extended period of time. We took Max and introduced them and they loved each other immediately. We brought her home and she has adjusted well. She is much smaller than the boys, 90 lbs when we brought her home. She is much more agile and has endless energy. Look forward to some hikes with her when we get her better on leash. Max is in the blue collar.

Beautiful dog! You have a type.
Great looking pup!
Ruger and Bailey, both are rescue dogs that we got as puppies. Ruger is 2, Bailey is almost 4.
Good looking dogs! That's some smile in that last pic.

Java turned 15 yesterday, and she did it in style at the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. She We've taken her there every year since we adopted her in 2009 and I have a pic of her in the same chair every year- check out page 2 of this thread. She also went for two short hikes and had lunch at a campsite off 376A in Fourmile, despite significant hearing loss and arthritis she still loves adventures. She is going to live forever.
There is no snow up there, most of the roads are completely clear- the other pic is of the hot springs, we were in a Cliffside room so you can see over the whole resort. If anyone in interested this month they have $99.00 rooms Sun-Thurs, which is a stellar deal they don't advertise too heavily. We paid 131 a night with the pet fee and it was empty- there were 8 people in the big pool last night, no one in the steam room or Japanese soaking pools.
Seeing a little more grey from last year but Java is aging great.

You guys are hurting me with your dog pictures. Honestly, I view them as a kid would look at a bicycle, just hoping he could have one just like that! I am in the market for a pup, that will grow old with me. I thought I had some preferences, but I am keeping that open for the time being. Would like to find one under a year old.

Java, the ridiculously durable dog, on Grand Mesa this weekend. She went swimming, hiking and exploring on the backroads between Debeque and Molina, over 600 miles of driving including some offroading and she's good to go this morning. 15 years, 4 months old.
Java swimming at Prospect Park yesterday. 15 years, 7 months and 16 days old, she has good days and bad ones. Last week she had 5 grand mal seizures in a day, I thought it was over... but apparently she isn't done having fun yet.
Old dogs never cease to surprise you. Thanks for giving her a good life so far Paul.

Paul, do you have Java on any meds for seizures? Chief had the same issues until we found a good mix of potassium bromide and phenobarbital. Doesn't help if they have a tumor causing seizures.

unfortunately she has a suspected brain tumor that is causing all her issues- the vet ruled out everything else that is common but we're not doing a lot of testing on an old dog to verify it. there is no rhyme or reason to how that will progress, or possibly heal or possibly kill her while I'm writing this; she is walking better this week than all of last month, and oddly all of her lumps and old dog bumps disappeared over the last couple of weeks and her eyes are clear and her fur looks great. Without puting her through a lot of tests the vet can't tell us anymore, and I'm not doing that to my dog. Keeping her active and her diet clean is all I can do, so we're on it. The oldest border collie on record was 29, you never know...

Here is Bandimere, whom we are currently fostering. He appears to be a French Mastiff, but he'd have to be the runt of the litter, hes 20 to 40lbs shy of a typical weight. He drags his knuckles to a point that they bleed, he is absolutely untrained other than knowing his name, and he has some sort of skin infection that Bruce now has, but we are figuring it out.
That said, he is a sweetheart, he is really easily spooked, espically by men, but he is warming up and running away less after just a week, so there is a lot of hope for him.
He will most likely become permanent, but for now, Molly is pretenting she could just foster.
I do not know how we keep fumbling into awesome dogs, but I am not complaining.
Java passed peacefully this past Tuesday, she was 15 years, 10 months and 5 days old.
A good day with her:
