"I'm flexible as long as I get back to my hotel every night!"
I make no promises.
Not much can stop me from a hot shower and a warm bed Rob, even if it means using your winch to get me there!

You're going to want to run more than just fins n things on one day. Same with hells revenge and moab rim. Double them up so you can get more in for your money. Just my opinion though.
Agreed. Todd and I did both Fins n Things and Hells Revenge in 5 hours or so last year. The year before that, we took all day to do Hells Revenge, but we did a lot of spectating at the big obstacles and got a late start since it was a very rainy in the morning so we didn't get started till after noon.
No rush on stuff, but those are definitely half day trails or even less.
Heres another one who made it. Look closely at where you go if you don't make it though, right at the end of the clip http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...oid=2032850803
Here is how most people end up who try it without a safety line...........
When they say no pets, do they mean at all? Or just for permitted overnight camping?
That will be a major problem for me. Planned all along on bringing my dog.. I have to do some thinking.
"if i get in and put it in reverse..." that had to be one of the dumber things I have heard said in a youtube clip.
"I think you can just get out, there is no need for you in there."
right... and who is going to run the winch? lol
i like, as they are al standing around looking "what do we need, lets get hiim going here" "yea""yea""yea""yea""yea" = as the poor dude is hanging upside down in his rig
How about the morons standing in the hole, where a lot of the vehicles fall in to, taking pictures? Natures way of weeding out the stupid ones before they reproduce I suppose
As every camera man knows, you gotta get the shot. The shot is more important then the well being of the camera man .
This is my favorite "not making it" or "how not to run the waterfall" video....
Boy, you got that right. Guy might as well be flying a flag that says "Very stupid. Drunk on horse piss type beer. Heavy right foot. No common sense"
So, what do you guys know about Shafer Trail in Canyonlands? Is it one that is ok to do alone? TD calls it a 2/3.
As we've said, we don't plan on wheeling everyday and Sunday is a day that we were planning on going to Canyonlands for some hiking but if we can get there via a relatively easy road less traveled, That would be great. If anyone is interested in going with us that way, you are welcome to.
[Edited - I meant Sunday]
I think we're going to do it. Sunday plan for us will be to start early and head down Potash Road (paved) by the petroglyph cliff facings and take Shafer Trail along the Colorado (under Dead Horse Point) into Canyonlands. We will do a hike or two in the Island in the Sky area and head back north later that day. It would be really nice if it is timed right to go to Dead Horse Point ont he way back for Sunset because it is beautiful. I haven't done it in 10 years but it is still one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.
I am cool with anyone who wants to do the Schafer part of the trail together. We may want to split up after the trail though since we will be spending most of the day in the park. Up to you though. We don't mind company.

Schafer is awesome and easily done solo.
Canyonlands has way too much stuff to do than one week will allow.
Have fun out there. I hope to make a fall Moab run this year
