    Default Bunce and Ironclads 1/22

    Hey guys,

A couple guys went and did Bunce School today. It was me, Keith, Rob, Charles and Greg riding along with Keith. Was a late start, and a kinda short day, but still a lot of fun. I got some snow bashing in before I start my new project to swap another axle in and such. Rob and Charles decided to call it quits fairly early and went down to the Pinball place in Lyons while Keith and I pushed on. Got to the first switchback after the ledge on on the loop.

I didn't get any pictures, but here is a video I took with my windshield mounted phone...

Greg and Charles took some pictures, so I'm hopefully they will post something.

Fun day, though it was short. Didn't hit deeper snow till the first climb on Ironclads. That's where Charles and I decided to turn around. I'm definitely not as aggressive in the snow the FJC as I am in the 40. We ended up going south on Bunce until it started getting deep, with a sheet of ice under the snow.

I got only a few pics.

If by fun, you mean winching uphill through the snow, then you're right, Pete. But the snow was a consistency that wasn't working well for my BFG's. And the ice under the snow was ugly. The snow was much different from the snow we hit on Rock Creek a while back.

We did a mini winch fest going up, which was mostly just me wanting to actual use my winch for something other then moving my rig around with no engine in it.

We followed Rob and Charles' tracks down towards Camp Dick and I wanted to keep going, but Keith said "he had somewhere to be" so we turned around and headed home. I saw Rob and Charles (and his kids) at the Pinball place so I stopped in to say hello and see how they did with the sledding.

Just as we came down off of Ironclads, a big ole Jeep Honcho with Dana 60's and at least 42" tires, if not 44" tires, was headed up with a Rubicon following him. I was kind of tempted to turn around and follow them, but I got all the snow bashing in that I needed. The new Pitbull tires do really well in the snow and I'm sure they made a big difference. I think if I had aired down a bit more they would have been even better, but I wanted to drive home without airing back up since some sleezebag stole my compressor out of my truck 10 days ago. Just found out yesterday that they got my Ready Welder too, which I'm really pissed about. Thought it was in my garage, but when I went to grab it couldn't find it.

Seems to be a little bit of the stealing going on here, too. Someone grabbed my 18v DeWalt drill and battery, then I found out that I was missing a 5 gallon can of gas from outside the house...Time to get medieval...Maybe it is time to scare the living daylights out of someone with the 12 gauge the next time I catch someone around the house at night. I haven't had any problems with noises or stealing for almost 1 1/2 years...basically since the last time...

Losing the Ready Welder was a nasty hit....

Time to leave a five gallon can of sugar-water, diluted with gas, outside...did I just say that out loud?

I love that idea. You could also add a little brake fluid too!

Yeah, an idea, but all of my life I have been a really big fan of nose to nose confrontations....Besides, word gets out about the 'wacked out old guy with the gun(s)' again', things will tone down once more.Seems I have to do that about every couple of years...
