@newracer - I like the spring brake line holders! I'm using zip ties and have thought about routing longer lines that can be strapped to hard suspension components to reduce random dangling. Perhaps running a hard line against the front lower control arms and on top of the rear leaf springs with a flexible braided section where the suspension components connect. Has anyone tried this?
@StRanger - When you say "Bond steel with fire", do you mean you welded with oxy-acetylene? I hate gas welding. "Melt metal with electricity" is my thing
I worked on bringing my XJ into this century...
I thought it was ironic...
Limiting straps installed. Tired of having to replace my upper front shock bushings three or more times a season because of the axle hanging from them.

-.- . ----- .-- - -.-.
Refurbished this old tilt deck trailer. It used to have plywood flooring and 2x2 stake sides. And no storage box. Client brought me an old storage box and asked that I replace the 2x2 stake pockets with 2x4 ones. Add more tie down points. and secure the massive storage box without losing much deck space, and have the trailer still be able to use it's tilting function. Client is going to prep and coat himself, as well as build the new stake sides for it..
Here is how the trailer arrived:
Here is how it left:
Stake pocket old to new:
Tie down points:
Turned out decent and best of all I was able to keep it fairly cheap. Client was pleased. So I am happy.
The box tilts with the bed or is attached to the frame ?

Box tilts with the bed. Not enough room on the tongue for the full box so it is mounted to the bed and overhangs the tongue about 10". The box is completely removable so they can use the entire 8' bed still.
Looks good Aaron!
When I was reworking my buddies H.F. fold-up trailer, I looked into using up some old 16-gauge steel sheet that was taking up space. After I calculated the weight I would be adding, I used some old plywood that was taking up space.

I guess I am a little harder on stuff than I give myself credit for...
Brought the shop truck in to replace an axle seal and a couple of steering arm studs. Torn down the leaking side and not only found no seal left at all, and I mean none, nothing was there, but found chucks of what look like past broken birfs, axles, and probably the seal. Cleaned everything out and decided to check the other side. Found the same issues, except the seal was still in place, just torn. And I found that the short side birf was actually cracked. It wasn't a small one either. Then I decided to pull the 3rd, just to check. Glad I did. found a few chipped teeth on the ring gear. Also found a couple more pieces of the missing axle seal.
So long story short, a quick simple fix has lead to a complete axle rebuild. New (rebuilt) 3rd member, chromo shafts, all bearings, seals, and even a lot of the hardware. Everything is pretty much new except the housing. Gotta love spare parts, both new and used. I literally had it all (plus a lot more) sitting on the shelf, so while today was an expensive day, the hit to my wallet had come already some time ago.
Here is a look at the disaster mid stream:
Love realizing you should have just pulled the entire axle assembly out of the rig. Would have sped the process up quite a bit, but by the time I had dug far enough, it would have been more work to pull the housing too.
And I gotta give a shout out to RCV! Quality parts made here in America. Doesn't get much better than that.
Seems to work out that way for me too. No job is ever as simple as it seems. Nice you had the shelf parts, does this mean you will have your rig ready to go then?

The owner should consider swapping the whole axle ass'y for a bigger, stronger one...
The trailer, that is.
Got tired of not being able to find my valve caps after airing up/down. I had some old Slime inner tubes that have neon green caps. Found exactly 4
More sparkie time on the on board air.

I decided yesterday that before loading truck back up to go through tool boxes and do a little cleaning. Decided my toolbox was way too heavy and found out why when I started digging, unfortunately only got through one, other is still a disaster. Took out 3 of the 4 - 1 1/4" wrenches, the 2 7/16" socket, a standard 3/8" drive socket set (still leaves me 2 plus a 1/4" drive and 1/2" drive set), 2 tire irons (leaves me with 2 cross ones) and a couple handfuls of extra bolts, screws, sockets and misc junk. I was actually able to pick it up by the handle again! sorry no pics but it's not really that exciting to anyone but me.
