    Default Death March

    http://picasaweb.google.com/2mavalos...eat=directlink

We started our annual "Death March" on Monday and will continue through next week. I returned to Moab to "recharge my batteries" and will continue with the group (2 Jeeps) on Tuesday.

It's called "Death March" because we leave EVERY DAY at 8:30am and usually don't get back til 9:00 or 10:00 pm

    Great pics, Marty.

Devil's Racetrack looks fun. There's a Devil's Lane listed on trail damage. Same trail?

Cool picture. The last Death March we did was the hike to the Confluence, from the Maze side in Canyonlands. Ten miles of on foot fun...and heat.

Great pics Marty, I don't think my rig would fit thru the I70 underpass as looks pretty tight on that jeep.

No Rob, that trail is off the Elephant Hill trail in the NP.

Sean, a few years ago we took a full size Dodge PU through it. He had to pull the mirrors in and nurse it through. However, most of the challenge was the trail, as it's not suited for that type of vehicle. Many of the roads in that area have been dominated by ATV's for many years and that has done more to add to the difficulty especially on the shelf roads. The up hill side walls have sluffed off leaving considerably less room for a wide track vehicle.

This is the last of the pix from our "Death March" (got to come up with a better name). Got back just in time as the weather has turned rainy.... not what you want when wondering out in those canyons. We had a GREAT time but it's good to be back after almost 1K miles on the odometer. About half of that was getting to the trail heads. "Ethel" held up fine and only whimpered a little when she drug bottom a few times.

Thanks Marty, looks like fun! I'd like to do some alternative Utah wheeling come Spring.

I'm thinking of posting up a run for around May, Chris. This will be for those who are looking for scenery first and wheeling challenges second. In most cases you will get both. I'll start a post sometime in January or February to get a feel for a preferred date so I can accommodate those that want a different Moab experience. I'll also try and tailor it for the type of trucks / experience. These won't have trail names so you won't be able to look them up on Trail Damage.

    Stay tuned......

edit: ooops thought Pathrat made that comment... anyway it still applies.

Stephanie, March may be a little iffy weather wise. April may be better, however EJS starts (officially) April 16 and ends the 25th. Lots of people 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the event. I'm sure you know all that. See my post to Chris.

I'll start putting something together around December so I can get input on preferred dates and how many days. Early (Feb. / March) reservations for motels or campgrounds should be considered a priority as they fill up pretty fast.

Chris, I think the Inca Inn is up for sale??

Hmm, it would be fun to have a Front Range 4x4 Inn in Moab!

Maybe Aaron can start collecting donations!

Depending on the wife's class schedule, we would be interested.
