Middle St. Vrain-Coney Flats

Haven't seen a report, so I hope everyone got off the trail and home safely. I guess I'll get it started.

Lots of fun today, as usual. Got to see some new faces on a familiar trail. If memory serves, Stephanie (and her bro Ryan) led a group of 10: Brian Pleasant and Sylma, CR (cr89yota), Todd (Wyota), Steve (SCRubicon), Mark (4wdhunter), Charles (cfr), Krista (lovesdirt9), Robert B (Robert B), Tim (Trailrat99XJ) and Ryan (xlr8tor) and couple of SO's whose names I can't remember (sorry).

Todd, CR, Charles and I cut out first at the lake and went to check out FS202, a spur off the T-33A trail that just opened after being closed for a few years. Wow. Gnarly trail, but fun. Thanks to CR and Todd for getting me through a couple of particularly heinous sections.

First, an early trail repair.

CR added oil this morning at his house, and gremlins walked off with the oil cap.

He discovered it early on MSV. The oil spraying from the engine did a kind of Jackson Pollock number on his hood.



Todd (I think) came up with a quick fix.

Wow, how often do I need to say the trail has changed? Glad you guys were with us today! I was happy to have help spotting, thanks everyone who helped! Thanks SCRubicon for the cb message, "Steph, your stuck." So I try to reverse. Again, over the CB, "no Steph, your stuck". Well maybe I wanted to land on my differential and thought I could power out of it! Trailrat and DrOldUnit were great guiding some of us over the rock strewn field. My brother had never driven off-road before and liked driving. Good times everyone!

CR decided Brian didn't need a spot Brian through the Coney rock garden, so he started playing rock, paper, scissors.







It's easier to see the trail ahead if you don't have 40 acres of FJC hood in the way.

And the judges give her two 9's, an 8.5, an 8 and a 2 from the East German judge.

I had a blast yesterday. And it was great to meet all you really nice folks and finally get in my first run with the FR4X4 group. Didn't get too many pictures, but here they are.
