    cj7. easiest way to see is to look at the shape of the doors. cj5s have smaller doors that curve up following the fender line. cj7s have flat-bottom doors that don't follow the fender.

    mostly because that's what came with their XJs...if you're going through the trouble of cutting off and welding new brackets, you should probably do it on an axle that has a much better aftermarket...
