Thanks for the update- just as well I haven't gotten out. Sounds like some of the closest off road sites won't be open this year.

Windows? What are windows on an offroad vehicle? :lmao:
A few other options a bit north (near Estes Park) would be Storm Mountain, Pierson Park Road, Pole Hill and Johnny Park Road.
Looks like fun- I haven't gotten out all year. Hopefully we can make it, will know as time gets closer!
This happened a couple of months ago. To make a long story short, I did some 4- wheeling and then some weeks later I noticed that my Jeep was sagging a little in the back corner. Found out that not...
I have followed Nick for quite some time and read some of his writings. Definitely my living hero!
One more reason I built this computer- I hate waiting on the computer to do something (time is precious). It fully boots Windows 8 (from power off) to the desktop in 8 seconds- now that is fast!
Yeah, I started this build as a budget build, but as I got into it, I couldn't see saving $200-300 for a computer I plan on using for 5 years or more. Speaking of that, most of the parts I bought...
I run SolidWorks (which doesn't utilize multiple cores unless rendering/simulations). CPU speed is king so the faster the processor, the less time I sit waiting for the computer to work!
Closeup of the motherboard showing armor and the two motherboard fans. The Asus Sabertooth TUF series is like the 4x4 of the computer world! :D
For fan size comparison, the stock Intel fan is shown next to the Panteks fan:
Here are a few pics of the build:
For the specs:
Fractal Design R4 Case (very quiet quality case)
Asus Sabertooth Z87 Motherboard (unbelievable features- armor covering, strengthened backingplate, thermal radar software, about a...
Just wondering if anyone else here builds their own performance computers / (workstations) for gaming/ 3d CAD use? I just built a blazing fast i7 Haswell running at 4.6 Ghz for less about $1300 and...
Standard batteries seem to last 5-6 years for me, however, if they are run completely dead, it shortens their life ( I could go into the technical details of why but I will spare you the boredom! :)...
That's easy- the tipping point is just a function of your center of gravity and inertia! :) Now the hard part is determining where the CG is vs. your inertia and slope...
SolidWorks 3d mechanical design, 3d print business.
Nice-thanks for posting! Makes me think I need to get out again and add to my 14er list... :D
Welcome to NoCo- looks like a capable rig!
Always sad to hear situations like this. I will keep his family in my prayers for peace through this exceptionally difficult time.
Over the last 12 years, I have been running the 33 x 10.5 KM1s on my Jeep- wore them out at ~55,000 miles and now am running the KM2s on it (~15,000 miles or so). I won't go with a wider tire- these...
I am interested in your electric fan conversion as well; unfortunately, I am not an electrical guy. But I did find this:

I couldn't get it to work through Youtube this morning- I think the traffic was too heavy. But Discovery Channel did a special report of it and showed it 'live' (I believe there was a 20 second...
It was a great day wheeling with Chris, Rob and Tom! My wife, daughter and myself had a great time braving the chilly temperatures in our open topped Jeep with the group- probably the last time...
x2- I hope to make it tomorrow but I'll see how it goes with my family... :erm:
