Updates to forest service road status pages yesterday and today. Bunce School Road (near Camp Dick; including T-33 plane crash site)...
Hooked up with some guys I met on the trail that are on the advrider forum. PM me if you're interested.
Weather is supposed to be nice.
Last Sunday I did Old Flowers Road, 7 Mile, and Sand Creek Road/Pass near Red Feather Lakes. Had a blast. The first half of 7 Mile was far more rocky than I'd like,...
I'm planning on swinging by during the cleanup run on my KLR 650. I'll be the guy in the hi-viz jacket and helmet. If you see me in the ditch, pull me out. :)
I've been offline for a while... In the meantime, picked up a Yamaha TW200 and a Kawasaki KLR 650.
While there are a bunch of forums (advrider, klr650.net, Colorado Dual Sport Riders) I haven't...
I'm going to try to pick up a Yamaha TW200 this weekend with the goal of teaching my kids to ride. Suggestions on wide-open spaces to teach them to ride? Pawnee Grasslands and the area around Walden...
Haven't posted in a long time.
Looking for a Yamaha TW200 to teach my boys on. This one looks great, but I can't get to Breckenridge until Friday. Anyone know this bike or -- I know it's a lot to...

Here's 42 pages of "never been done before". A year and half in the shop. Doesn't sound like fun.

I'm not against a dream rig. Just want to point out that unless you're skilled, like yourself, building a JK can get real expensive real fast.
38-inch BFG KM2 are ~$500 each so that's $2500....
You're talking about an expensive rig here. Ballpark,
07-12 jk: $10-20k
wheels/tires $5k
v8 swap: at least $20k done professionally
axles: $20k
That's easily $60k in just the opening...
Exactly. When I ran the Goodyear Duratracs, they were unstoppable in the snow for the first two years. After that (and 30k miles), they were so so.
I have been battling death wobble on and off for years on my JK. I feel for you. It sucks.
Over on Colorado4x4, Josh at CrawlerTech says he's happy to help anyone troubleshoot if they just stop by...
The SRA is a good street tire. Soft ride, ok traction in rain. Nothing special in snow, but maybe better than an M/T unless the snow was deep.
The Duratracs are an awesome all-around tire. Ran these in my JK for ~50k miles.
Winter-rated. Great on-road in the snow and rain. Great in all but the harshest off-road conditions. I don't like...
In my seemingly endless battle against JK death wobble, the next thing in line is my control arm joints that have play in them.
Anyone done this before? Anyone have the tool?

Mopar "Enhanced" rock rails. I run these. Same as the Rubicon rails, but with a step/bar. Mine were $600 new, these are $260. Looks like a steal.

My advice for the JK is do a ton of research and keep it as low as you can. Anything over 3 inches and you end up with other problems (ask me how I know). If I had to do it again, I'd still do 35s...
I know nothing about this, but google says that there's a floor jack adapter available pretty cheap,

Awesome. That's a serious saw. Also looks like serious cash. ~$200?
I use the Sven Saw which is less serious in both dimensions.
Wonder what that means for the Easter Jeep Safari's usual run of Elephant Hill. When I did it, I think we had 10-15 vehicles.
Might want to consider the TreadWright tires. I got a set of 315/70/R17 shipped to my door for something like $800 when they were running a buy 4, get one free deal.
Specifically,
