Anywhere fun
Anyone want to go out Saturday 8/3? I cannot make the Imogene pass weekend but my wife daughter and I want to still get out. We dont really know trails so would like to have others join( and also to meet like minded people who love slow moving expensive hobbies) Was thinking either summit county area or Estes area( but really open to anything we can do in a day). Let me know! Thanks for reading

Re: Anywhere fun
As you mention Estes Park... Perhaps look at a two trail set - Storm Mountain (skip Storm Drain - it is closed / of not much interest for what remains) and Pole Hill just before sunset. I'd do most of Pole Hill and then stop at the overlook to watch a sunset and then drive the remainder out after sunset. You could consider either trail as a one trail day.

Re: Anywhere fun
If you're going to Pole Hill and wish family to see some views, get to this vantage point (a 100' walk from where you'll park):

Also, a counter-clockwise direction of travel on the big loops is typical.

Re: Anywhere fun
Are there any other decent moderate trails in that area? We are thinking of going up Friday afternoon doing pole hill and camping up there then hitting more trails Saturday....

Re: Anywhere fun
But it offers nice views at the end. Also at the end is an optional obstacle set.

Re: Anywhere fun
Ironclads and Miller Rock offer a tad more obstacle value. Miller has some pucker factor. There is a hiking trail that comes into play with Miller - St. Vrain Trail?????

Msv coney flats but I would not suggest solo. T33a and iron clads also rock creek.

Re: Anywhere fun
Johnny Park is right there, that's always a lot of fun and the way there is beautiful on both sides.

Re: Anywhere fun
If I don’t have to work this Saturday I’d be into running one of those trails.
