Moab Trip
Got back from Moab on Sunday. Didn't have a ton of time, but ran Kane Creek, Hells Revenge and had a more scenic day on Bartlett Wash, Hidden Canyon, Tusher Tunnel areas.
I wanted to run Poison Spider on the last day, but one of the guys broke a CV, and the shaft broke off inside the diff. It took quite a bit of time to get that fixed - had to drill into the CV shaft, then use a tap to make some threads and get a bolt with some washers in there, then some pry bars to pop it out. So we didn't have enough time to do much.
Kane Creek:
Fun trail, a few tougher spots, fun wall climb at one point. Lots of driving across and sometimes through the river. As we were coming up out of the canyon on a shelf road, we spotted the remains of a wrecked rig that somehow fell off the shelf road. Don't know when or anymore about it, but looked bad. Makes you a bit nervous seeing that, but really there wasn't any spot that was super narrow there or anything.

Hells Revenge:
I still love this trail. My GF said she thought she was going to tear the oh **** handle off lol. We had 2 CV's break. The first one we repaired and had lunch on the trail. It took about an hour to do. It was just on some random climbing, probably was already weakened by something else. The second CV was on Tipover Challenge and we finished the trail and repaired it the next morning as mentioned above.
Oh yeah:

And you gotta have a poser shot:

Anyway, it was a blast.

Re: Moab Trip
Great pics! What CVs broke?
As always, your rig looks awesome. Mine is pretty ghetto.

Re: Moab Trip
Thanks Andrew! Looking forward to being there in a few days.

Thanks!
Both CV's were on Yota 4Runners. One was at the joint, the other the shaft broke off in the diff. Looking on the box it said "Made in China" so yeah they were not Toyota OEM stuff. The splined portion of the shaft was actually a smaller diameter than the center part.

Re: Moab Trip
Thanks for all of the pictures! I am glad that you had a great time. I have heard from a lot of people that the Kane Creek run is really a cool trail. Bear and Bren had run that the last time they were down there and I think that Stephanie likes that trail a lot, too.

Yes, thanks for the pictures. I have yet to run Kane Creek, actually.

Re: Moab Trip
The crashed rig you saw coming out of Kane Creel is an old Jeep pickup, belonged to a rancher who lost the brakes and stepped out of it before it went over the edge. It happened back in the late 50's.

Re: Moab Trip
Wow...well at least he was able to get out. Just one of the reasons that I really check the brakes and such before going to Moab with all the ledges and stuff.
