Fun times...not
Well just went out to grab some stuff for dinner and filled up the Miata to get home and have it start pissing out transmission fluid. I never would have notice if not for the smell and a little smoke because the car is still shifting perfectly. Well now I gotta climb under there and see what the damage is.

Re: Fun times...not
That happened to the rodeo a week ago when i had to fix the flex plate, I forgot to tighten one of the bolts properly and it was fine for about 2 days. Then all of the sudden i'm loosing a quart every couple of minutes and it started smoking like crazy because it was leaking on the manifold. But minutes later and some trans fluid and it was and still is fixed.
Good luck with the fix! hope it was as simple as mine.

Re: Fun times...not
Well, just got done looking at a few times and talking to guys on my miata sight and things are much better then I thought, turned out it was coolant from a leaking heater hose, the fuild felt to filmy to be coolant but I guess I was wrong and glad I was. Here is my leak so I am hoping if once I find the part it will be quickly on.

Re: Fun times...not
You should have no problem finding that locally, maybe even some rubber hose that's the same size?

Re: Fun times...not
no its a stick, after talking to some guys i check all my fluids and the radiator was dry so i filled it and then it immediately started to leak to again so I was able to pin-point the leak, I was almost ready to start pulling the tranny good thing I check with guys who really know these cars before I A LOT of my time.

Re: Fun times...not
Ya, I was thinkin there wasnt a lot of Miata's running autos and sticks dont blow fluid, they dribble it .

Re: Fun times...not
I may try and find a "rare" and mostly unwanted auto Miata for my wife in the future but for me nothing but sticks in small cars. Autos are a lot more common the newer you get.

Re: Fun times...not
Good thing it was something a lot less expensive and look relatively simple to repair.

Re: Fun times...not
Yup, with it being winter and the end of a semester I am already going through my pockets for change, didn't need a large expense right now.

Re: Fun times...not
Luckily its just a easy little thing !

Re: Fun times...not
got the hoses, clamps and extra coolant for $37, but the existing coolant looks pretty bad so I may go get it flushed before this crazy cold front moves in.
