Somewhere - Sept 1 or Sept 3. Where are we going?
I was flipping through the Wells guidebooks and realized there are some areas in his book that I've never explored. In the "northern" book, I've never been to Area 1 (red feather lakes area), Area 5 (steamboat springs), or Area 6 (wolcott/glenwood springs/vail). There are, of course, trails in the other areas that I have not visited yet also. What's interesting in Areas 1, 5, and 6? Some of these are pretty far away from Denver, so what is worth doing in a day trip?
Re: Somewhere - Sept 1 or Sept 3. Where are we going?
If you wish, I'm heading to a couple TOMORROW in the Grand Lake area... PM / Call me if you wish to join...
Re: Somewhere - Sept 1 or Sept 3. Where are we going?
Appreciate the offer, but I can't wheel tomorrow. Have fun!
Re: Somewhere - Sept 1 or Sept 3. Where are we going?
K - if you ever wish to hit some up the up-nort trails - let me know - there are several I've yet to hit (west of RMNP in specific). If you're looking for a fairly easy set with some nice views - Halligan reservoir and the associated trail to its west are a couple in the easy class.
Heart Attack Hill on Kelly Flats is interesting.
Sevenmile Creek, especially with spring water flow is good too.

I might be into heading up North next weekend but I’m hiking my 1st 14er Saturday and family bbq Sunday so I guess that leaves Monday lol. I’ll keep an eye on this post Trent. Jim how difficult is Heart attack? it’s on my list but maybe next year when I have more experience.

Tom, I don't understand what you mean by this response. Maybe I'm missing something obvious -- it is a post about fixing erosion issues a year ago?

Think Tom was responding to Taco Chris' question about Heart Attack Hil - the work done was on that spot.

He was asking about how difficult heart attack hill is. This shot shows the work done on the crux making it easier than before it was concreted.

Thanks, I didn't know anything about the trail. I guessed the feature shown was previously challenging. Looks easy now, with all the extra concrete and rock.
Re: Somewhere - Sept 1 or Sept 3. Where are we going?
It wasn't particularly challenging but people were going around it causing resource damage, thar's why we added more concrete.

But then there's the fun stuff between the base of the hill and concrete...
Once you're on the concrete - you're done - kind like when the roller coaster enters the station and you feel the brakes hit and release to get you down to slow-coast mode.
