Anniversary China Wall June Run
Its about time to get our 'anniversary' run to China Wall planned for June. Although the FR4x4 anniversary is in March, the seasonal closure of China Wall shifted the run to June per member vote. So hopefully we will have good turn-out with additional time for members to plan and expect good June weather. Additionally, I hope to delay our first adopt-a-trail clean-up run from June until after the July 4th weekend as recommended by our FS contact (Brandt Wobig). In theory, this allows for having a larger, more coordinated group run, nicely spaced in each month.
I believe China Wall opens 6/15, so I am putting up a poll for the three June weekends that follow the opening of China Wall: 6/16-17, 6/23-24, 6/30-7/1. You may vote for multiple options. 6/16-17 will be the opening weekend - so it might be busy. And 6/30-7/1 is starting to encroach towards July 4th? If we get the poll started now, give it a couple weeks, that will still allow for 3 weeks for the food planning sheet to develop if desired/needed.

Its a great trail for a larger group run as it accommodates all vehicles from stock to well modified with a choice of challenge on most obstacles.
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
Sounds like a campout? We'll have a hard time packing gear, people, and dog for a campout in the Jeep. Might need to bring a second vehicle so we can haul the gear if I don't come up with a better plan before then. Is the camping accessible to a Subaru outback?
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
Yes - quite a few choose to camp out. Some will re-run a section of the CW trail Sun morning, and sometimes a group will head over to the gulches area as well. Camping is accessible to any vehicle - about 1/2 mile off pavement on dirt road.
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
Not for sure I can make it but only one weekend would possibly work for us. Voted for first week.
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
I'll be up there either way on the 23rd. We'll be camping at 11 Mile and doing some exploring.
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
God this summer is looking to be a fun one already! I'll be there either way. Third weekend is least convenient as I move starting the first - but I'll figure it out somehow.
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
I can make it on the 23rd, but the 30th and 1st are my choice. Either way, i'll make one of them.
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
I should be able to join this either weekend, but probably won't know until it gets closer!

Need a little help,
In the below pic , is the circled area the camp site? Any issues bringing my motorhome (31ft Class A, Ford 550 chassis)? Thanks for any info you can share
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
Basically - that is the campsite, or maybe just to the north of your circle in the triangular area. I think you should be fine getting the motorhome in there - the 4wd section start to the right of your circle where the complicated/multiple road junction is.

Off to the west (on the other side of the main road) is a big graded dirt road that takes you diagonally down to Hwy 24. The area along that road is flat and open to dispersed camping, it would be a great area for a big rig.
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
Thanks GPP33 I will give it a look.
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
Doesn't look like I'm going to make it this year. I'm heading back to CA for my sons graduation and some wheeling in the desert. If it is the last weekend I might be back.
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
I can do either the 23rd or the 30th at this point.
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
Sounds like a good time, if all goes well I'm voting for 23/24. If work allows I can offer to help haul gear and food if need be. Granted a first gen taco cant do a whole lot lol
Re: Anniversary China Wall June Run
I second that I can also help haul some things - I'll likely have the hard-top and rack on for this one as I'll be moving shortly thereafter. Looking forward to it!
